Standard wind vane anemometer
The Davis Instruments wind vane anemometer was originally designed for the Weather Wizard and Weather Monitor stations, but is now compatible with the Davis Instruments Vantage Pro 1 and 2 weather stations. It is now regularly used by integrators thanks to its attractive price and robustness.
The 7911 vane anemometer for the Weather Wizard and Weather Monitor stations (also compatible with the Vantage Pro and Pro 2 stations) provides wind speed and wind direction measurements. The anemometer is rugged and can withstand hurricane-force winds, but is also sensitive to very low wind speeds.
The anemometer has been tested in a wind tunnel and meets the limiting characteristics below. It recorded up to 282 km/h during Hurricane Andrew in 1992 before breaking.
A 12m 4-conductor cable is supplied with the vane anemometer.
Fixing to a tube/mast with a maximum diameter of 5 cm.
This vane anemometer also exists in a version with a more vertical offset arm: Reference 6410 (see associated product).
